Experience

Hello! My name is Sarah, I am a full time college student and tutor in Thornton. I have a passion for teaching highschool maths and sciences, along with government, public speaking, and several others. My Junior and Senior years of highschool I was a teachers aid in both my math and science classes, grading labs and quizzes. When I wasnt studying myself, I spent a large amount of my time explaining different concepts to my peers, classmates, and siblings. I excelled in school graduating with a 4.0 GPA, qualifying for National Honors Society, and the National Merit Scholarship Program. In September of 2013, I obtained my Property and Casualty Insurance license and worked as an insurance agent at Farmers Insurance. Although I excelled at my job, I slowly came to realize that I did not get the same joy from working in an insurance office that I did when I could see a students eyes light up when they finally understood a scholastic problem that has stumped him/her in the past. I am currently pursing my Associates in Applied Science and my Paralegal degree at Front Range Community College. I am open to tutoring any students that are willing and eager to learn. Its my goal to get each student to a point where they can excel in any subject on their own. I like to apply math and science to real world situations to show students that their schoolwork is important. I also do my best to explain literature, writing, and public speaking in an exciting manner that makes students feel confident in their final product. I so my best to understand each students unique learning style and then explain their work in a way that is easy to grasp and memorable. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have! I look forward to getting to know you as we work to reach your scholastic goals.

Hobbies

At the moment, my biggest hobby is coaching high school debate teams in the areas of speech and debate. I competed in speech and debate for 6 years, starting when I was 12 all the way through my senior year in highschool. While participating in competitive speech and debate I debate thousands of students from over 20 states. I competed in the NCFCA for 4 years, and STOA for 2. My senior year, my debate partner and I won multiple rounds with a win-los ration of 10-1. I personally won several speech events at local competitions, placed nationally, and was ranked as the number one debate speaker for the state of Colorado in 2012. I was the club captain and taught the younger students while encouraging them and instructing in areas where they struggled. Since I graduated highschool, I have continued investing in the speech and debate community by coaching.
